Does DICE approve of and allow this tool?

DICE has not made any official statement about Battlelog Standalone; however, they are aware that it exists and is in use by many players. It is unlikely that they would officially approve it as it is a third-party tool, but it is also very unlikely that they would decide to disallow it. A DICE employee even posted to say one of our other programs was a "cool tool" and give us advice to help us improve it.

Will this get me kicked or banned by PunkBuster?

No. Battlelog Standalone is entirely safe — you will not get into any trouble with PunkBuster. Battlelog Standalone does not modify your game in any way; it only provides access to the Battlelog website, just like any other web browser would do. There are many players using this tool, and none of them have reported any issues with PunkBuster.

How do I know that this program doesn't steal my login details?

Battlelog Standalone is just a simplified web browser, and it doesn't handle the login process in any special way — you still log in with the normal Battlelog website, except it's done from within Battlelog Standalone instead of another web browser. The only network traffic sent from our program to our server is for the update check, and that is done before you even enter your password; this can be verified by using a packet sniffer such as Wireshark.

Could you use Google Chrome's rendering engine instead?

Yes! We have been investigating other options and plan to make our next update a big one. We may switch to Google Chrome's rendering engine, or possibly offer a choice and let you decide which to use.

Why do I get the message, "Your web browser is not fully supported"?

The current version of Battlelog Standalone uses the Trident core from Internet Explorer; it is essentially a stripped-down version of that browser, without the "bloat" that comes with it. It is currently configured to run in IE9 Standards Mode. This means that if you do not have Internet Explorer 9 installed, you will see that message displayed, even though you can still join games. For now, you can either ignore and close the message, or install Internet Explorer 9. The next version of Battlelog Standalone will solve this issue.

Does this program bypass Origin?

No. Battlelog Standalone gives you access to the Battlelog website in the normal way, and you will still require Origin. Bypassing Origin would be against the Origin Terms of Service, which could get your account suspended or banned. We don't want to do anything that would put player accounts in danger, and we only support legitimate game modifications.
